Scientist has worked many years just to find out this truth that either Panda is from the raccoon family or from the bear one. But finally by doing DNA tests, studies have shown that that giant panda is more closely related to the bear. Other then Panda there are only seven types of bears in the world. Many bears are not the fierce predators we are often led to believe. Bears, wolves, hyenas and weasels combine to make up only four groups of carnivores that are related in their evolutionary descent from the miacid. Miacid are those creatures that lasted for more than 50 years. Hence the eight most renowned bears are named as Sun bear, Spectacled bear, Sloth bear, Asiatic Bear, Giant Pandas, Polar Bears, Brown Bears and last but not the least American Black Bears. They are the only ones which are present.
