What Elephants Eat And Drink
Average life span of an elephant is about 50 to 70 years. Like human beings, their ages also vary according to living conditions and species. Is remains a fact that some of them die before reaching 50 and some of them cross even 70 easily. As elephants start growing older, the longevity of their lives depends upon their teeth. From the front to the end, an elephant has 6 sets of molar teeth. The first set of adult teeth appears at the age of 20 to 25. And the last set appears at the age of 60. When this set wears out, the elephant is unable to eat anymore, and thus die due to starvation.
According to various sources, the oldest elephant ever lived in recent times went up to 86 years. It was an Asian elephant whose name was Lin Wang, and it belonged to Taipei Zoo, Taiwan. The name of Lin Wang was also added in Guinness World Records book.
Elephants are amazingly strong and can hold or pull a lot of mass altogether. It can roam around with the speed of 40 kilometers per hour. Elephants eat quite a lot because of their heavy body. An average is about 13 feet long and weigh up to 13.5 tons.
