The four types of ape species namely, Apes, Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Gibbons and Orang-Utans, have average life span of 40 to 50 years. But there are chances of change in the average lifespan of gorillas which can live 35-40 years in the wild but it can live longer in captive i-e 40-50 years. These species of animals are becoming extinct day by day because of several human factors. Their native forest are vanishing gradually because of human activities. For this reason the lifespan of these animals are slowly decreasing.
All of these types of apes belong to Phylum Chordata and Class Mammalia. These animals are found in different parts of the world. Chimpanzees are the most closest animals to humans. Chimpanzees have 94% identical DNA to humans and they are mostly found in African countries of DR Congo etc. They are very intelligent apes. Talking about Gorillas, they are more similar to the humans than Chimpanzees. The DNA similarity between the Gorillas and Humans is about 94 to 99 percent. Gorillas are mostly found in Central African countries. Gibbons also belong to the ape family and they are mostly found in China, India and Indonesia. They mostly spend their life in the forests of Asian countries. Orangutans are mostly found in Malaysia and Indonesia. Sumatra and Borneo are two places where these great mammals live.
