Dogs are as old as the human beings are. The history of the domestication of dogs started with the history of mankind which means that they were the first domesticated animals on earth. They vary in size, physical appearance and characteristics more than any other animal on earth as you can see in dog pictures. Like poodles have curly fur, Afghan hounds have large height. As obvious from dog pics, chihuahua is smaller in size while Mexican dog is hairless. The biological makeup of these different species is identical in nature as they can interbreed, have strong sense of smelling etc.

The dog breeds are enormous and all of them look different from each other as you can see in dogs pictures. However, their ancestral father is the same Wolf. Like wolves, dogs are always ready to hunt their prey but at the same time there are obedient to their group leader. This characteristic is inherited from their ancestral father also.

There are several functions that a dog can perform. Dogs can be domesticated to be guardian of your house. At the start of history, humans started to domesticate wolves but wolves could hunt on the basis of sight. Then humans realized the natural talent of dogs to hunt by smelling the prey. Since then, they use dogs for hunting their prey. Dogs can be loyal friends of yours as well and you can spend good time with your dogs. They play with humans, they sleep with humans and it is also one of the dog facts that, sometimes, they catch a prey for them. So a dog can be beneficial for human beings in many circumstances.
